Description

There is a green so deep it belongs in a maharani's treasury, and this bridal parure holds it without apology. Five pieces move together here in the Kundan tradition: a choker that spans nearly fourteen centimetres across its width, a nath with its long draping chain, a haath phool reaching almost fifteen centimetres from wrist to finger, chandelier earrings of over eleven centimetres in length, and a matha patti with maang tikka that crowns the forehead across nearly twenty-five centimetres. Each surface is set with foil-backed green Kundan stones, their edges pressed into place by the cold-setting method that Jaipur's craftsmen have practised for centuries, where gold-like enclosures hold the stones without heat. Pearl drops suspend from the choker and earrings, their soft ivory pulling warmth from the deep green. The base, a carefully finished zinc alloy, allows such breadth of ornament, bringing the full set to four hundred and ten grams, a weight designed to be felt and noticed. Wear the complete five-piece parure with a silk Banarasi lehenga in ivory or ruby for a wedding ceremony; reserve just the nath and haath phool with an embroidered anarkali for a sangeet, where movement carries the pearl drops beautifully. One size accommodates most brides. The Kundan settings are flush and secure, unlikely to snag dupatta silk. The zinc alloy base keeps the finish stable through long celebratory hours and does not require specialist care between occasions.
