Behind this piece
The mojari is one of North India's oldest surviving craft forms, rooted in the workshops of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh where leather artisans have shaped pointed-toe footwear for centuries. Agra and Jaipur remain the principal centres, with communities of skilled karigar families passing the hand-stitching technique across generations. These silver-toned mojaris carry that lineage forward through pure camel leather, a material prized for its suppleness and durability, while the layered surface of net, sequins, and beadwork draws from the same festive vocabulary that once adorned Mughal court shoes. Each pair is assembled by hand, seam by careful seam.
How to style
Wear these with a blush-pink sharara and a tissue dupatta for a mehendi ceremony, letting the silver catch the afternoon light. For a winter wedding reception, pair them beneath an ivory Banarasi silk saree with antique kundan earrings and a pearl choker. Diaspora shoppers will find them equally at home under tailored gharara trousers styled with a contemporary crop blouse, finished with oxidised silver cuffs. The pointed toe elongates the silhouette beautifully in each context, and the neutral silver tone allows the mojaris to move effortlessly across ivory, gold, dusty rose, and deep jewel palettes.
Fabric & care
Camel leather is naturally resilient but benefits from considered care. Wipe the surface gently with a soft, barely damp cloth after each wear and allow the shoes to air dry away from direct sunlight, which can cause the leather to stiffen and crack. Store the mojaris stuffed lightly with acid-free tissue to preserve their shape, and keep them in a breathable cotton pouch rather than a sealed plastic bag. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture. Condition the leather once a season with a neutral cream polish, applied sparingly. The beadwork and sequins should never be rubbed; clean around the embellishments with a dry soft brush.
