Fabric with Embroidered Flowers and Sequins
Gentle hand-wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent. Avoid soaking. Iron on medium heat while slightly damp.
Description
Light catches the sequins the way late afternoon catches a gilded minaret, and for a moment the fabric seems to breathe. Woven from tissue, that most luminous of ceremonial textiles, this fabric carries the delicate weightlessness that has long made it a favourite for festive dressing across North India. The embroidered flowers are rendered with a precision that speaks to the chikan and zardozi traditions of Lucknow and its surrounding ateliers, where needle and thread have historically transformed sheer cloth into something closer to memory than material. Scattered sequins catch and release the light in rhythm with movement, lending the surface a quiet, celebratory shimmer without overwhelming the floral motifs beneath. Available in four considered tones, including the dusty warmth of Almond Buff, the gentle nostalgia of Candy Pink, the unexpected freshness of Lucite Green, and the depth of Paisley Purple, each colour tells a different story of occasion and mood. This is fabric suited to weddings, festive evenings, and any gathering where dressing is itself a form of devotion. A length fashioned into a blouse or dupatta pairs beautifully with a silk saree in a complementary tone. For a contemporary sensibility, consider a sheer overlay jacket worn against ivory or ivory-adjacent separates.

SaleBehind this piece
Tissue fabric carries within its threads a legacy of luminosity. Woven with a silk or metallic warp that catches light at every angle, tissue has long been favoured by the courts of Banaras and the ateliers of Lucknow, where the interplay of translucence and surface embellishment was considered high art. Here, that heritage meets hand-guided tambour work, with sequins and floral embroidery laid across grounds of Almond Buff, Candy Pink, Lucite Green, and Paisley Purple. Each colour shifts as the fabric moves, making the embroidery appear to float rather than sit upon the cloth.
How to style
For a formal evening, fashion an anarkali or floor-length lehenga in Paisley Purple and pair it with polki or kundan earrings and block-heeled mojris. Lucite Green cut into a structured kurta works beautifully for a festive afternoon, worn over wide-leg palazzo trousers with oxidised silver bangles. Candy Pink lends itself to a bridal or pre-wedding function when draped as an unstitched saree or stitched into a cape blouse; complete the look with pearl-drop earrings and strappy gold sandals. Almond Buff suits a cocktail jacket layered over a silk slip.
Fabric & care
Tissue is a delicate weave and will not tolerate machine agitation. Dry-clean whenever possible to preserve the sequin thread and embroidered motifs. If hand-washing is necessary, use cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent, submerge briefly, and never wring or twist the fabric. Roll it gently in a clean cotton towel to remove excess moisture, then dry flat in shade away from direct sunlight. Store folded in soft muslin, never hung, to prevent the tissue from stretching at the grain. Avoid contact with rough surfaces that can snag the sequin work.
