about the piece,

Description

Light catches sequins the way memory catches ceremony: briefly, brilliantly, and without warning. This georgette fabric arrives dense with hand-applied sequin work, each disc placed with the deliberate rhythm that characterises the embellishment traditions of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, where artisans have long treated shimmering surface as a language of festivity. The georgette base is weightless yet structured, allowing the sequined layer to drape with a fluidity that heavier embroidered grounds cannot achieve. Available in pale gold, pansy purple, and silver gray, the three colourways speak to different registers of occasion: the gold for lehenga skirts sewn for winter weddings, the purple for an evening blouse that holds its own without effort, the gray for the shopper who prefers celebration worn quietly. At this price, the fabric offers genuine access to the sequin-work tradition without compromise to its essential character. Cut it into a crop blouse to pair with tissue silk or organza, or use it as an overlay panel on a sharara to let the shimmer move independently of the foundation beneath.

the story,

Behind this piece

Sequined embellishment on georgette carries a lineage rooted in the karchobi and sitara traditions of Lucknow and Surat, where artisans learned to coax light from fabric using tiny metallic discs sewn in dense, repeating formations. Georgette itself, with its crinkled, open weave, was historically favoured by court couturiers for its drape and translucency. This fabric continues that conversation. The pale gold, pansy purple, and silver gray colourways echo the palette of Mughal brocade chambers, translated here into a surface that catches and scatters light with each movement, as a sequined textile has always promised to do.

to wear it,

How to style

Cut this fabric into an anarkali silhouette for a winter wedding and pair it with uncut diamond jhumkas and ivory block heels. For a quieter festive evening, fashion a wide-legged palazzo set in the silver gray, grounding it with oxidised silver kolhapuris and a single statement bangle. The pansy purple length works beautifully as a draped blouse-back panel beneath a sheer organza saree, worn to a sangeet or reception where the back becomes the focal point. Keep accessories deliberate and spare; this fabric is already in conversation with light and needs no competition.

to last,

Fabric & care

Georgette is a delicate, twisted-yarn weave prone to snagging and distortion if handled roughly. Dry clean this fabric to preserve the adhesive and thread binding each sequin. If hand-washing is necessary, use cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent, never wringing or twisting the length. Lay flat on a clean towel to dry, away from direct sunlight, which can dull metallic sequins over time. Store folded loosely in a muslin cloth, never compressed beneath heavier textiles. Iron only on the reverse side, using low heat, with a pressing cloth as a barrier to protect the sequin surface.

Each piece is hand-picked from artisan clusters we work with directly across India. Some are handloomed on traditional pit looms, others use block-printing, hand-embroidery, or heritage techniques passed down through generations. Small irregularities are part of the character — not a defect.
