Cherry Slip-on Shoes for Men with Threadwork
Gentle hand-wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent. Avoid soaking. Iron on medium heat while slightly damp.
Behind this piece
Threadwork on leather is among the quieter inheritances of Indian craft, practised across artisan clusters in Agra, Jaipur, and parts of Uttar Pradesh where the cordwainer and the embroiderer once worked in the same courtyard. The cherry colourway here is not incidental. Deep reds have long signified occasion in the subcontinent, from bridal processions to festive thresholds. Each slip-on is made to order, meaning the hands that cut, stitch, and embroider begin only after you choose. That waiting is part of the exchange. You are not buying stock. You are commissioning a small, considered object.
How to style
For a wedding or sangeet, wear these with an ivory or ecru kurta-pyjama in chanderi silk, letting the cherry speak without competition. Add a Pashmina stole in blush or nude and keep the jewellery to a simple silver kada. For a semi-formal gathering, pair them with straight-cut linen trousers in off-white and a fine cotton bandhgala in charcoal. These shoes also carry a casual festive look with a printed block-work kurta in indigo and raw cotton. The threadwork lifts even understated silhouettes, so resist the urge to over-accessorise.
Fabric & care
Pure leather rewards patience and consistency. After each wear, wipe the surface gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust before it settles into the grain. Condition the leather every four to six weeks using a colourless, pH-neutral leather cream applied sparingly with a clean cloth, then buffed in circular motions. Keep the shoes away from direct sunlight and heat, both of which dry out and crack the hide. Store in a breathable cotton bag, never plastic, with cedar shoe trees to retain shape. The threadwork embroidery should not be wetted or brushed.
