Description

There is a particular kind of white that belongs only to Kundan work: not the cold white of diamonds, but the milky, almost breathing luminescence of glass-set foil stones pressed into polished brass. This choker and earrings set is built in the Kundan tradition, wherein each stone is individually set within a fine brass framework using the age-old lac-filling and foil-backing technique that gives Kundan its characteristic inner glow. The multi-strand silhouette fans out to a width of five inches (12.7 cm) across the collarbone, the individual strands strung with white Kundan-set floral and geometric units that catch light without competing for attention. The matching earrings, measuring 2.1 inches (5.3 cm) in height and 0.7 inches (1.8 cm) in width, echo the same motif vocabulary. The total set weighs 55 grams, substantial enough to feel considered on the body. The necklace closes on an adjustable chain measuring 7.4 inches (18.8 cm) in length, accommodating a range of necklines with ease.
