Description

There are earrings that announce themselves, and there are those that simply arrive. These long brass drops carry the quiet authority of a tradition that predates fashion. At 3.2 inches in height (approximately 8.1 cm) and 1.05 inches in width (approximately 2.7 cm), the silhouette is decidedly chandelier-like, designed to graze the collarbone with each movement. Brass, long the metal of temple precincts and ritual objects across South India and Rajasthan, has been worked here into layered tiers that recall the tiered gopuram form, each level drawing the eye downward in a measured cascade. The warm, oxidised honey tone of the brass is characteristic of antique-finish craft, where artisans deliberately age the surface to evoke heirloom weight and patina. At 41 grams, the piece has genuine presence without being punishing to wear across an evening. Pair these with a fine Kanjivaram in muted gold or rust for a wedding reception where understatement matters more than opulence. They sit equally well against a hand-block-printed kurta in indigo for a literary evening or a gallery opening where the jewellery should converse, not compete. Free-sized with a standard hook or push-back closure, these earrings require no special care beyond keeping them away from moisture and perfume. The brass holds its finish well over time, and the weight is distributed evenly enough that extended wear remains comfortable throughout a long occasion.
