Description
There is a kind of white that only Jaipur knows how to make festive. This multi-strand necklace is built on the vocabulary of Rajasthani Kundan work: flat-set glass stones pressed into a brass base with the patient precision that the tradition demands, each element held by refined gold-toned foil rather than prong or claw. The pendant, measuring 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) long and 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, carries that characteristic layered silhouette, florals and geometric borders graduating outward in concentric detail. What distinguishes this piece from simpler Kundan sets is the Meenakari work woven through it: vitreous enamel fired into the brass in rich polychrome, the colour visible from behind and between the stones, giving depth to surfaces that might otherwise read as purely surface. The matched earrings, 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) by 1 inch (2.5 cm), echo the pendant's composition in miniature. The full piece weighs 98 grams, a substantive presence without being burdensome. Wear it with a blush or ivory tissue silk saree for a winter wedding where the white beading will hold the light beautifully. It sits equally well over the deep neck of an Anarkali in burgundy or forest green, the enamel colours finding their complement in rich fabric. The necklace closes with an adjustable dori reaching 8.5 inches (21.6 cm), making it genuinely free-size across necklines. The brass base is sturdy and suited to repeated wear, with no sharp edges at the setting.
