Description

There is a whole weather system trapped inside each bead. Tourmalinated quartz is one of nature's most quietly dramatic stones: clear or milky quartz pierced by fine black tourmaline needles that run through the interior like ink pressed into glass. These faceted drops, each averaging eight millimetres across, are strung twenty-five to a strand across a seven-inch (approximately 17.8 cm) string, the faceting catching light at angles that make the needles shift and scatter. The effect is neither purely dark nor purely pale, but something suspended between the two, a monochrome that reads as both geological and graphic. No dye, no coating, no intervention beyond the cutter's wheel. The stone does its own work, and the result belongs to a tradition of unadorned lapidary honesty that values material truth above embellishment. Worn alone, the strand sits cleanly against the collarbone and reads beautifully with a white cotton kurta or a charcoal silk blouse, the dark inclusions pulling out the depth of either fabric. Layered over a long Chanderi dupatta at an evening gathering, it adds quiet drama without competing with embroidery or zari. The piece weighs ten grams, which makes it genuinely comfortable across a long day of wear. The free-size string accommodates most necklines, and the faceted beads are smooth against the skin. A simple knotted closure keeps the silhouette clean and uncluttered, letting the stone remain, as it should, the only point of attention.
