Description

There are places where the sky and the earth share the same colour, and this necklace remembers them. Rooted in the jewellery traditions of the Tibetan plateau and the tribal borderlands of the Himalayan foothills, this piece speaks in the visual language of protective amulets and ceremonial adornment. The deep imitation lapis lazuli stones, cut in bold cabochon forms, hold their own particular blue, a colour long associated with sky-worship and sacred geometry across Central Asian craft. The setting is brass, worked into architectural frames of the kind that tribal silversmiths have favoured for centuries, then finished in a cool silver polish that brings the metalwork close to the look of aged Tibetan silver. The overall silhouette is layered and ceremonial, the pendants dropping with deliberate weight. At 123 grams and measuring 10 inches (approximately 25 cm) in length, this is a piece that announces itself fully. Worn over a plain ivory or charcoal kurta, it reads as considered and editorial. Layered above a block-printed indigo angrakha or a simple linen dress, it carries the easy authority of collected things, the kind of necklace one encounters at a tribal craft fair and does not put down. The silver polish finish sits well against both warm and cool skin tones. The piece is free size and requires no clasp adjustment for most wearers. The brass base lends it everyday durability without sacrificing visual drama.
