Description

The high plateaus have always worn their jewellery like armour and prayer combined. This broad, ceremonial necklace draws directly from the Tibetan tradition of massed metalwork, where silver-toned brass is layered with bold, repeated settings of imitation coral and turquoise. The two stones are not incidental: in Himalayan adornment, coral and turquoise are considered auspicious companions, their warm terracotta and cool blue-green held in deliberate tension. Here, the brass is finished with a silver polish that lends the whole piece an aged, almost relic-like quality, stopping well short of sheen and settling instead into something quieter and more considered. At 146 grams, the necklace carries real presence on the collarbone, its weight a constant, grounding reminder of the tradition it references. Worn against an ivory or off-white handloom sari in cotton or raw silk, this necklace becomes the entire story of the outfit, needing nothing further at the throat. It is equally at home with a dark indigo kurta for a wedding sangeet or a festive gathering where understated drama is welcome. At 14 inches (approximately 35.5 cm), the length sits at the base of the neck in the choker-adjacent register that suits most necklines without adjustment. The silver-polished brass is hardy in everyday handling, and the free-size construction requires no fitting consideration. The imitation stones are set firmly within their mounts, making this a piece suited to confident, repeated wear.
