Description

There is a quiet lunar logic to a bracelet that moves in three. Three slender sterling silver bands travel together across the wrist, each one set at intervals with cabochon rainbow moonstone, those softly domed stones that hold their blue-white adularescence like light caught inside still water. The layered silhouette, roughly one and a half centimetres wide, gives the piece presence without weight; all fourteen grams of it settle with the ease of something worn rather than displayed. The sterling silver is worked to a clean, polished finish, the metal bright enough to lift the milky depth of every stone without competing with it. Cabochon cutting is the only honest way to present moonstone: facets would fracture the glow; the smooth dome lets it billow. This is a sensibility rooted in Indian silver jewellery traditions where the stone is trusted to carry the conversation. Wear it at a daytime wedding with a pale silk kurta and unlined chanderi dupatta, where it catches the afternoon light without announcement. In the evening, it sits equally well against a black georgette blouse beneath a Kanjivaram, the stones providing their own quiet iridescence against the silk's sheen. At nineteen and a half centimetres in length with a free size fit, the bracelet accommodates most wrists comfortably. The polished sterling silver resists daily wear well; a soft cloth is sufficient to restore its surface. This is a piece for wearing on ordinary days and letting the moonstone decide when to speak.
