Description

There are prayers that take the form of gold, and this is one of them. The Lord Ganesha at the centre of this necklace belongs to the South Indian temple jewellery tradition, a lineage traced through the workshops of Nagercoil and the devout metalwork of Tamil Nadu's coastal karigar communities. Cast in brass and finished to a warm, burnished gold tone, each piece carries the devotional weight of a votive offering translated into wearable form. The pendant, measuring just over one inch in height (approximately 2.67 cm), frames Ganesha in the full, frontal iconography characteristic of temple-style work: broad forehead, elaborate crown, and the serene authority of a presiding deity. The earrings, at roughly 1.55 inches tall and 0.80 inches wide (approximately 3.94 cm by 2.03 cm), mirror the pendant's register. The set weighs 77 grams in total, substantial enough to feel considered without becoming burdensome. For a silk Kanjivaram or a Banarasi tissue sari worn to a puja or a wedding reception, this set speaks the same ceremonial language as the occasion. It pairs equally well with a deep-toned anarkali in silk georgette, where the brass's warmth draws out the richness of the cloth. Free-sized for universal fit, the necklace sits at a collarbone length suited to open or boat necklines. The brass construction makes it resilient for regular festive wear, and its finish asks only for gentle storage away from moisture.
