Description
There is a quiet grammar to small jewellery: a single teardrop that says everything without raising its voice. This pendant belongs to the Kundan tradition, wherein a foiled stone or glass centre is pressed and sealed within a border of refined metal using a wax-and-lac base. Here the setting is shaped into a soft teardrop, narrow at the crown and full at the base, measuring just under one and a half centimetres in height (approximately 1.5 cm) and a little over one centimetre across (approximately 1.3 cm). The piece is wrought in brass, a metal long favoured by artisans for its warm, gilded tone and its willingness to hold intricate bezels without weight. At three grams, it carries that particular lightness characteristic of well-proportioned Kundan work, where the eye is led entirely by the stone rather than by bulk. The tradition reaches back through the workshops of Rajasthan, its contemporary form refined by Jaipur craftsmen who understand that proportion, not scale, is the measure of elegance. Worn on a delicate chain against a raw-silk kurta in ivory or saffron, this pendant offers restrained ceremony for a daytime puja or a festive lunch. Paired with a printed mulmul blouse and pearl drops at the ears, it anchors a graceful, unfussy evening look. Free sized to suit any neck on a chain of your choosing, the brass setting wears well through daily contact. Standard care applies: keep away from moisture and perfume to preserve the Kundan foiling and the warm finish beneath.
