Description

There are earrings that announce an entrance, and then there are earrings that hold a story in every stone. These Kundan chandelier earrings are built on a brass base worked in the classical Kundan tradition, where each pink stone is set by pressing refined wax-backed foil against the metal, then seating the stone flush within a border of polished gold-toned Kundan work. The teardrop silhouette draws from the vocabulary of Rajasthani bridal jewellery, most closely associated with the ateliers of Jaipur, where layered chandelier drops have long been the language of celebration. The graduated tiers fall to a full three inches, or approximately 7.6 centimetres, with a width of 1.20 inches, roughly 3 centimetres, and the pair weighs 30 grams, substantial enough to feel ceremonial yet balanced enough to wear through an evening. The flush-set pink stones read as soft rose against the warm gold setting, and the overall finish is lustrous rather than flashy. Pair these at a winter wedding with a deep wine Banarasi tissue sari and antique gold bangles, or wear them with an ivory Lucknowi chikankari lehenga where the pink stones provide the only note of colour needed. The free-size fitting accommodates most ear lobes without adjustment. Brass holds its finish well with minimal care, and the Kundan setting, when handled gently and stored away from moisture, will retain its alignment season after season.
