Description

There is a quietness to the teardrop that has always drawn the jeweller's hand. In Kundan work, the setting is everything: a foil-backed cavity of polished brass holds each stone in a bed of refined wax, then the gold-toned Kundan wire is pressed flush around its edge, locking light and colour into place without a single prong or claw. This piece follows that grammar faithfully. The pendant describes a clean teardrop silhouette, approximately 1.1 inches tall and 0.8 inches wide (roughly 2.8 cm by 2 cm), its face composed of a central inset stone framed by the characteristic flat Kundan border. At 7 grams, the brass base gives the piece a satisfying solidity without pulling at the neck. The tradition it draws from is Rajasthani in spirit, the kind of restrained Kundan that Jaipur ateliers have perfected over centuries for everyday adornment rather than bridal ceremony. For daywear, thread it on a fine gold-toned chain over a dusty-rose cotton kurta, and it will do the work quietly. For an evening gathering, pair it with a silk blouse in ivory or deep bottle-green, where the Kundan face catches candlelight with real grace. The free-size pendant suits most standard chain lengths and requires no adjustment. Brass is lightweight in wear and holds its form well; a soft dry cloth is all that is needed to keep the Kundan face clear and its finish intact over time.
