Description

There is something quietly arresting about a raindrop caught mid-fall, and these earrings hold exactly that stillness. Each piece is set in sterling silver, its surface burnished to a cool, unassuming lustre that lets the blue chalcedony do the speaking. The stone is cut into a soft teardrop, its colour the particular blue of overcast coastal skies, milky and diffused rather than saturated, with the translucent depth that only chalcedony carries. The huggie hoop sits flush against the ear lobe, a slim arc of sterling that grips cleanly without bulk, while the teardrop pendant drops free below it, suspended with the kind of quiet movement that draws the eye rather than demands it. Sterling silver as a medium has a long tradition in Indian craft, particularly among silversmiths of Bengal and Rajasthan who prize its workability and its honest, ungilded honesty. At just 2.7 grams for the pair, the earrings carry no fatigue across a long day. For a cotton kurta in ivory or pale grey, these earrings supply the only punctuation the look needs. They are equally at home beneath a silk blouse at a Sunday lunch, where the chalcedony's cool blue reads as considered and deliberate rather than ornate. The teardrop measures approximately 1.05 inches in height by 0.25 inches in width, roughly 2.7 centimetres by 0.6 centimetres, a proportion trim enough to suit all ear types. The huggie closure secures firmly and is straightforward to work without a mirror.
