Description

Silence shaped into silver, one thread at a time. Tarakasi, the ancient filigree tradition of Odisha, asks its karigars to draw sterling silver into hair-fine wires and coil them, loop them, and solder them into forms so intricate they seem to be made of breath rather than metal. This piece distils that patience into a double-circle silhouette: two concentric rings, each built from twisted wire tracery, enclosing a field of open lacework that lets light pass clean through. At the base, a row of ghungroo drops, the small bell-shaped finals beloved in classical Indian jewellery, add the gentlest acoustic presence and a satisfying swing. The earrings measure approximately 4.7 cm in height by 3 cm in width and weigh 10.6 grams, substantial enough to feel considered, light enough to forget you are wearing them. Pair them with an ivory chanderi kurta for a quiet afternoon gathering, where the silver reads as restraint and intention together. For a wedding as a guest, set them against a deep burgundy silk sari; the ghungroo catch the light with every movement and need no further ornament alongside them. The sterling silver finish is left bright rather than oxidised, so the wire structure catches light cleanly from every angle. Free size with standard post-and-back fittings, they suit most ear piercings without adjustment and are hardy enough to travel well in a small pouch without snagging.
