Description

There are silhouettes that do not merely accessorise a bride; they complete her. This set draws on the grand visual language of north Indian court jewellery, where layered necklaces and cascading earrings were composed with the same deliberation as an architectural frieze. The focal piece spans approximately ten centimetres across and nearly fifteen centimetres in height, its weight a substantial two hundred and thirty grams felt with satisfying presence at the throat. American diamonds, faceted to throw maximum light, are set in close formation across the necklace, earrings and maang tikka in a palette of deep royal purple, a colour that carries the ceremonial gravity of silk and velvet. The stones are mounted in a silver-toned setting that flatters the cool violet tones, each piece proportioned to read boldly in the candlelight or under the warm wash of a mandap. The maang tikka measures just over eleven and a half centimetres in length, sitting precisely on the central parting without slipping. The earrings extend nearly nine centimetres, framing the jaw with appropriate drama. Pin this against a purple or ivory silk Banarasi lehenga for a north Indian wedding, or let it anchor a heavily embroidered ivory sharara where colour is carried solely by the jewellery.
