Description

There is a particular kind of festivity that lives in the curve of a peacock's tail. This kamarband is built around that conviction. The peacock, India's most ceremonially charged bird, appears here in repeating motif across a brass framework, each unit stone-studded in the manner of Rajasthani bridal work where colour and symmetry carry equal weight. Pearl drops hang from the lower edge, their cool lustre softening the assertiveness of the set stones, a balance that echoes the layered sensibility of Jaipur's bridal jewellery tradition. The brass base lends the piece its pleasing heft of 56 grams, enough to hold the waist with quiet authority without feeling burdensome. The finish reads warm and antiqued, the kind that photographs as gold in ceremony and as heirloom in memory. Wear this kamarband knotted over a heavily embroidered lehenga for a mehendi or sangeet, where the peacock motif rhymes with zardozi or gota work. It reads equally well cinched over a silk saree drape at a temple wedding, where the pearl drops catch the light of diyas and flowers. At 11 inches in length (approximately 28 cm), the belt is designed as free size, intended to be tied or fastened at the back to suit varying waist measurements. The brass construction keeps the piece resilient through long ceremonial days, and the weight sits evenly distributed, never pulling at a single point.
