Description

There are jhumkas that make noise, and there are jhumkas that make history. This pair belongs to the second kind. Set in brass and finished in the Kundan tradition, each earring is built around a domed, stone-studded top that cups the ear with quiet confidence before dropping into a full, rounded jhumka bell. The stones are seated in the Kundan manner: each one pressed into a bed of refined metal foil, edge after edge burnished until stone and setting become a single surface. Below the bell, a fringe of natural pearl drops swings free, the way old Rajasthani pieces always do, carrying with them the memory of Jaipur workshops where this language of layered ornament was perfected over centuries. The brass base gives the piece a warm, amber-toned ground, lending weight and resonance without the premium of gold. At 2.25 inches (roughly 5.7 cm) tall and 1 inch (roughly 2.5 cm) wide, the silhouette is generous without being theatrical. Wear them with a silk chanderi kurta for an afternoon majlis, or against the plain neckline of a raw-silk saree at a wedding evening. The pearl drops catch candlelight in a way that no synthetic finish can replicate. At 42 grams the pair carries satisfying substance, signalling quality to anyone who knows how to look. The fit is free size, designed to suit standard pierced ears, making them as practical for regular festive rotation as they are for a special occasion.
