Description

There are jhumkas that simply dangle, and there are jhumkas that declare something. This piece belongs to the second kind. Worked in brass with the patience that Kundan setting demands, each earring builds itself upward from a flat, stone-studded face where unfoiled or foiled stones are pressed into their beds of lac, held fast by thin gold-toned metal ribs folded flush against every edge. The dome of the jhumka bell below swells with the same disciplined geometry, and from it fall bead drops that catch movement the way water catches light. The silhouette is classic north Indian bridal, rooted in the Jaipur tradition of layered Kundan work, where the craft belongs as much to the setting of the stone as to the stone itself. Two colourways speak different registers: a dark pink that reads like a Rajasthani gulabi afternoon, and a cool, verdant green that recalls enamelled foliage on old palace pillars. Wear the dark pink colourway with a silk chanderi lehenga or an Anarkali in warm ivory for a mehndi or sangeet. The green pairs naturally with a Banarasi saree in bottle green or cream, carrying the Kundan tradition from the jewel outward into the cloth. Each earring measures approximately 5.2 cm in height and 2.5 cm in width, with the pair weighing a combined 50 grams. The fitting is standard and accommodates most ear piercings without strain, making these practical enough to wear from the first ceremony to the last.
