Description

She arrives adorned, as Lakshmi always does, in the full vocabulary of temple devotion. Cast in brass and finished to a warm antique gold, this necklace set draws directly from the South Indian temple jewellery tradition, where the goddess herself is the supreme motif. At the centre of the pendant, Goddess Lakshmi is rendered with the serene, frontal authority of a shrine deity, framed by stone-studded borders in the manner of kovil ornaments fashioned for ritual processions. The stones are set close, dense and deliberate, their colour catching light the way oil-lamp glow catches temple gold. The matching earrings carry the same devotional grammar, each piece a small votive object in its own right. At 57 grams, the set has a satisfying, grounded weight that feels considered rather than heavy. Pair this set with a Kanjivaram silk sari at a wedding puja or naming ceremony, where the brass's warm burnish will hold its own against rich woven borders. It works equally well worn over a dark handloom cotton kurta for a festive lunch, the earrings alone sufficient for quieter occasions.
