Description

There are wings in brass that carry the weight of a whole garden. The butterfly has lived at the heart of Indian decorative craft for centuries, appearing on temple friezes, on the borders of Banarasi silks, on the enamelled surfaces of Jaipur Meenakari work where colour is itself a kind of flight. This bracelet honours that lineage in an accessible register: a brass form set with stones in multi-coloured and pink variants, each specimen bright as a monsoon insect caught mid-hover. Brass, long favoured by folk jewellers across Rajasthan and Bengal for its warm, gold-like lustre, is worked here into a structured cuff silhouette. The stones sit in close settings across the butterfly's spread wings, the whole piece measuring one inch in height and five and a half inches in length (approximately 2.5 cm by 14 cm), and weighing a modest twenty grams on the wrist. The multi colourway suits a cream handloom kurta worn to a Sunday bazaar or a daytime puja; the pink reads beautifully against ivory or sage cotton at a festive afternoon gathering where the dress code is smart-casual rather than ceremonial. At free size, the cuff slips over most wrists without adjustment, and twenty grams ensures comfort through long afternoons. The brass base is robust enough for regular wear, though it rewards being kept away from water and perfume to preserve its warm finish over time.
