Description

There are rakhis that are tied and forgotten, and there are rakhis that are kept. This one belongs to the second kind. Worked in metal and thread, it carries the quiet logic of a folk amulet: a small studded centrepiece, no taller than a quarter of an inch (approximately 0.6 cm), anchored to a slender braided thread that runs to thirteen inches (approximately 33 cm) in total length. The stone setting is intimate rather than grand, each coloured stone pressed into its metal bed in the manner of simple tribal and bazaar jewellery from Rajasthan, where artisans have long understood that restraint is its own ornament. Tiny beads punctuate the thread, lending rhythm and colour without weight. The whole piece rests at just 2.1 grams, light enough to forget you are wearing it, present enough to be noticed. Tie it on a brother who prefers his wrist uncluttered: it sits beautifully against a plain white kurta at a family puja, or against the rolled cuff of a linen shirt at a low-key celebration. The mixed thread and metal speak equally to ceremony and to everyday affection. Free size by nature, the thread ties to any wrist without adjustment, making it reliable for gifting when you do not know the recipient's exact measure. The metal components hold their finish well with ordinary care, and the braided thread is resilient enough to last well beyond the festival itself.
