Description

There are textiles that carry a whole landscape inside them, and Sambalpuri fabric is one. Woven in the handloom tradition of Odisha, Sambalpuri cloth is recognised by its resist-dyed ikat patterns: geometric fills, dot-and-diamond repeats, and the characteristic bandha weave in which every thread is pre-dyed before it meets the loom. Here, that storied fabric is shaped over MDF forms and finished with hand-set stone studs and beaded detailing, producing a choker that sits at roughly 3.8 cm in height and a pair of earrings, each approximately 2.5 cm tall and 2.5 cm wide. The full set weighs a light 17.3 grams, so it rests without strain. The stones are set flush into the surface, catching light without competing with the textile's own quiet geometry. This is craft that knows restraint. Wear the choker against the neckline of a handloom cotton kurta for an afternoon gathering, or pair the full set with a silk chanderi salwar for a festive occasion where you wish the cloth to speak first. The earrings alone work equally well with a linen shirt and tailored trousers, anchoring a contemporary look with regional soul. The choker is offered in free size and sits close to the throat in the manner of a true choker silhouette. The MDF base gives it structural stability without stiffness. Both pieces are best stored away from moisture to preserve the fabric's colour and the stone settings over time.
