Description

He stands eternal, the flute-bearer of Vrindavan, held now in brass and Kundan light. The pendant, measuring five centimetres tall and five centimetres wide (2 x 2 inches), centres on Lord Krishna in high relief, his form framed by a setting worked in the Kundan tradition: coloured stones pressed flat into a foiled bed, their brightness drawn not from the stone alone but from the silver or gold foil laid beneath. The earrings, at nearly five centimetres tall and two and a half centimetres wide (1.85 x 1 inch), echo the same devotional geometry, repeating the inlaid stone border that rings the pendant. The base metal is brass, finished to a warm, antique-toned lustre reminiscent of temple jewellery from the workshops of Jaipur, where figural religious pieces have long been the karigar's highest commission. The full set weighs thirty-five and a half grams, the brass lending it a pleasing substance without heaviness. Wear this set with a Banarasi silk kurta for a Janmashtami puja or a family temple visit. It reads equally well against a cotton handloom saree when the occasion calls for something devotional yet unfussy. The pendant hangs on a standard chain fitting, the earrings on conventional hooks, making both suitable for pierced ears without further adjustment. At free size, the set needs no alteration and travels well, its brass construction resistant to daily handling.
