Description

There are stones that carry the sky, the earth and the sea within them, and this necklace holds all three. Turquoise, coral and lapis lazuli have been revered across the subcontinent for centuries, not merely as ornament but as amulets of protection and prosperity. Here, these three auspicious stones are strung in graduated beads alongside sterling silver, the metal worked and polished to a clean, cool brightness that honours their natural depth of colour. The combination recalls the jewellery traditions of Rajasthan and the Himalayan foothills, where such trichromatic bead compositions were worn as devotional adornment long before they became objects of connoisseurship. Each bead is selected for its chromatic clarity, the robin-egg blue of turquoise reading against the vermilion warmth of coral and the deep indigo of lapis with an ease that feels almost inevitable. The necklace weighs 25.7 grams and sits at a classic eighteen inches (approximately 45.7 cm), a length that settles gracefully at the collarbone. Worn over a white mulmul kurta, it carries the quiet authority of heirloom jewellery worn without ceremony. For a Puja gathering or a festive lunch, layer it over a silk blouse in ivory or deep teal to let the stones speak their full chromatic dialogue. Free-sized and fastened with a standard silver clasp, this piece requires only occasional gentle polishing to maintain its sterling finish. Its weight is light enough for day-long wear without fatigue.
