Description

There are earrings that ornament, and then there are earrings that hold a prayer. At four and a half inches tall and two and a half inches wide (approximately 11.4 cm by 6.4 cm), this sterling silver chandelier is devotion rendered in weight and form. The presiding figure is Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, cast and finished by hand in solid sterling silver, a metal long favoured in ritual jewellery across South Indian temple traditions and the silver-working ateliers of Rajasthan alike. The piece weighs a substantial 95.4 grams, and that presence is intentional: sterling silver of this volume carries a gravity that gold cannot replicate, its cool, bright lustre deepening over time into a surface that holds memory. The silhouette is architectural, built downward in the manner of a ceremonial jhumka or temple drop, with the deity at its crown anchoring the full length of the fall. Wear these for a wedding reception paired with a Kanjivaram silk in deep red or ivory, allowing the silver to speak against the richness of the weave. They are equally compelling with a white chanderi kurta at a festival gathering, where restraint becomes its own statement. At free size with a standard drop closure suited to regular ear piercings, these earrings are designed for occasions rather than daily wear. Store them flat and wrapped in anti-tarnish cloth to preserve the sterling's original brightness between outings.
