Description

There is a quiet geometry in things made by hand, and these sterling silver beads carry it with particular grace. Each bead is drum-shaped, a silhouette borrowed from the tabla and the dhol, those instruments whose rhythm underpins every celebration across the subcontinent. The surface is worked into a fine lattice, an open grid of silver that lets light pass through rather than simply reflect it, giving the pair an almost architectural delicacy. At 14 mm wide and 10.5 mm tall, the beads sit with pleasing substance without tipping into heaviness. The material is sterling silver throughout, chosen for its cool luminosity and its willingness to age gracefully with wear. This style of pierced silverwork has long roots in Rajasthani and Gujarati craft traditions, where karigars have carved, pierced and shaped silver into objects that are simultaneously structural and ornamental. Sold as a pair, they arrive ready to be strung. Thread them onto a silk cord for a kurti-and-palazzos pairing at a weekday lunch, or set them between carved bone spacers on a longer strand worn over a formal ivory chanderi sari at a daytime pooja or small gathering. Because these are sterling silver and finished with a smooth, burnished surface, they resist tarnish better than fine silver, making them practical for regular use. The free-size listing reflects their universal suitability as components; they suit any cord gauge that passes through the bead cavity cleanly and comfortably.
