Description

There are jewels that borrow from the court and give them back to the everyday. This sterling silver parure arrives in a language familiar to anyone who has studied Rajasthani silver craft: deep-set faux rubies held in closed-back collet settings, their warm crimson pressed against a lightly oxidised ground that throws every engraved detail into relief. At nine inches across and one inch wide (22.9 cm by 2.5 cm), the necklace traces a firm, architectural crescent, its weight of 87 grams distributed evenly so it rests without pulling. The earrings, two inches tall and nearly one and a half inches wide (5 cm by 3.7 cm), repeat the same motif in miniature: each a self-contained composition that could stand alone. The design draws on the silversmiths of Jaipur, who have long paired repoussé surface work with coloured stones in settings that mimic, without pretending to be, the Kundan tradition in a more accessible metal. Wear it over the raw silk of a winter kurta in ivory or rust, and the faux rubies read as fully intentional. It is equally suited to a bengali tant sari at a family puja, where the oxidised silver catches candlelight without overwhelming the weave. The necklace closes with an adjustable dori, making the fit genuinely universal.
