Description

There is something quietly commanding about a stone left to speak in its own rough tongue. This bracelet arrives from the silversmith's bench already knowing its own character. Worked in sterling silver, it pairs two of the mineral world's most generous colours: the deep blue-violet of faceted tanzanite and the warm, wine-lit purple of faceted amethyst. The stones are set without apology, allowed their natural ruggedness, so that each catches light in its own uneven way rather than performing the uniformity of a polished suite. The toggle clasp closure, a satisfyingly old-fashioned mechanism, anchors one end in a loop of the same oxidised or brushed silver that runs through the length of the piece. At 7.5 inches (19 cm) long and roughly 1 inch (2.5 cm) in height, and weighing 28 grams, the bracelet has real presence on the wrist without becoming burdensome. Wear it with a plain ivory kurta on a winter evening when you want one thing to carry the entire conversation. It is equally at home against the cuff of a linen blazer at a gallery opening or a quiet dinner where jewellery is chosen rather than merely worn. The free-size toggle fastens easily without a mirror or a second pair of hands, and sterling silver of this weight wears well through the seasons. A soft cloth is all the care it asks for, and it will return the attention generously.
