Description

There are textiles that carry a loom's memory in every thread, and this choker set is one of them. Sambalpuri fabric, woven in the ikat tradition of Odisha, is among India's most disciplined handloom arts. The weaver plots the resist-dyeing of individual threads before a single pass of the shuttle, so that the finished cloth arrives at its pattern with an almost architectural exactness. Here, that cloth is cut into clean round discs, each approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch) across, and set against an MDF base that keeps the form firm and the face of the weave fully visible. The choker panel itself rises to roughly 2.5 cm (1 inch) in height, letting the characteristic geometric or floral ikat motifs read clearly at the throat. No stone, no metal foil, no lacquer competes with the textile. The restraint is the statement. The full set weighs just 15.6 g, so it rests with genuine lightness. Wear it with a handwoven cotton or linen kurta in a contrasting solid, letting the ikat geometry become the room's focal point. For a contemporary pairing, it sits just as well against a silk slip dress at a gallery evening or a festive lunch. The free-size choker adjusts easily around most necklines. The circular earrings, each 2.5 cm (1 inch) in both height and width, are compact enough for daily wear without feeling inconsequential. A set considered for women who find craft more compelling than ornament.
