Description

Patience made visible, one silver thread at a time. Tarakasi, the ancient filigree art of Odisha, demands that silver be drawn into the finest possible wire and then coaxed, by hand, into forms that look more like frozen breath than metal. These earrings honour that discipline fully. The design is circular, a self-contained world of scrolled and looped sterling silver wire arranged into a flat, lace-like roundel. No gemstones interrupt the composition; the craft itself is the ornament. At 2.7 inches in height and 1.7 inches in width (roughly 6.9 cm by 4.3 cm), the silhouette reads with quiet authority rather than excess. The weight of 15.64 grams reassures without burdening, and the oxidised silver tone deepens every curlicue, lending the surface an antique warmth that catches light slowly and deliberately. Wear them with a fine Chanderi kurta in ivory or warm taupe for an afternoon gathering where understatement speaks loudest. For an evening occasion, they sit beautifully against a silk tussar blouse, adding textural counterpoint without competing with embroidery or a statement necklace. The free-size hook or post closure, common to earrings of this silhouette, suits most ears comfortably. Sterling silver construction means the metal is robust for daily wear while remaining gentle on skin. A soft dry cloth after wearing preserves the finish and keeps the fine wire work free from residue.
