Description

There is a quiet confidence to a necklace that needs no embellishment beyond the stone itself. Agate has been threaded into Indian adornment for centuries, its banded depths prized by traders along the old Cambay routes and by craftswomen in Rajasthan who understood that a well-cut bead is its own architecture. This necklace is composed of round agate beads, each one smoothed and polished to reveal the stone's natural layering, its soft swirls of warm earth tones and cool grey moving in the light as though the mineral is still alive. At roughly eight inches in length (approximately twenty centimetres), the strand sits close to the throat, the weight of eighty-seven and a half grams giving it a substantial, grounded drape that synthetic alternatives cannot replicate. No metal overwhelms the composition; the beads carry the piece entirely, strung with care so that each sphere turns freely and catches the light independently. The finish is purely lapidary, honouring a tradition older than most jewellery techniques we name. Worn against the collarbone, this necklace becomes the focal point of a handwoven cotton kurta in ivory or a raw-silk blouse in deep rust. It is equally at home paired with contemporary linen separates for an afternoon gathering where understated elegance matters more than occasion. Free-sized and requiring no clasp adjustments, it slips easily on and off. The polished agate surface is resilient and cool to the touch, requiring only a soft cloth to maintain its lustre across years of daily wear.
