Description
There are necklaces that announce an entrance, and then there are those that hold a conversation across centuries. This multi-strand Kundan set speaks the language of Rajasthani court jewellery, where the art of setting unfoiled stones in a lattice of lac and gold-toned brass has been refined over generations in the workshops of Jaipur and Bikaner. Deep red stones, vivid as pomegranate seeds, are pressed into their Kundan-set bezels with the precision that defines this tradition: each stone held firm by burnished foil work that catches light without competing for it. The necklace layers several strands into a broad, structured bib, its pendant measuring approximately eight centimetres in height and five centimetres in width, anchored by an adjustable dori that sits comfortably against the collarbone. The earrings, at roughly seven centimetres tall and under three centimetres wide, carry the same red-and-gold rhythm downward to the jaw. At one hundred and sixty-three grams across the set, the weight is perceptible but wearable. Pair this set with a deep teal or ivory Banarasi silk sari at a winter wedding, where it will read as heirloom without apology. It translates equally well over a heavily embroidered anarkali in cream or burgundy for a mehendi or sangeet evening. The brass base is finished to a warm gold tone that resists tarnish with ordinary care. The dori closure extends the necklace to nineteen inches, accommodating most necklines, and the earrings suit pierced ears with a standard drop fitting.
