Description

There are earrings that arrive like a festival memory, and these are precisely that. Rooted in the Kashmiri jhumka tradition, this long, sweeping pair is set in brass with vivid red Kundan stones laid in the flat-foil technique that defines the craft: each stone pressed into a fine setting of worked metal so that colour and light are held without prong or claw. The jhumka bell itself carries the rounded silhouette beloved across the subcontinent, but the Kashmiri reading adds drama in length, the piece measuring a full 6.5 inches, roughly 16.5 centimetres, from top to lowest drop. That drop is a cascade of ghungroo bells and creamy pearl beads, each layer adding movement and soft percussion. The brass base is worked and finished to carry the warm, slightly antique tone that flatters both the saturated red stones and the ivory of the pearls. At 177 grams the pair has genuine, grounded weight. Worn with a silk phiran or a heavily embroidered Kashmiri shawl, these read as full ceremonial. Against a plain chikankari kurta or a draped ivory sari, they do all the speaking the occasion requires. The standard free-size hook closure suits most ear piercings without adjustment. At 1.5 inches, roughly 3.8 centimetres, across the face of the jhumka, the width is bold but considered. The brass construction is durable and the ghungroo drops, being individually threaded, hold their arrangement through regular wear.
