Description

There is a particular pleasure in geometry when it is worn close to the throat. This necklace is built around a row of rectangular-cut stones set flush into polished brass, a setting style that asks the cutter and the setter to work in concert, each facet aligned so the stones read as one continuous band of colour rather than individual units. Brass, long favoured by artisans in Rajasthan and Bengal for its warm, gold-adjacent lustre and its workability under fine tools, gives this piece a body that is substantial without being stiff. The rectangular motif itself recalls the architectural inlay traditions of Jaipur havelis, where precision and repetition create richness. At 55 grams, the necklace has a satisfying weight, the kind that settles against the collarbone and stays there. The chain extends the total length to 9.8 inches (approximately 24.9 cm), sitting neatly at the neck. Wear it with a silk chanderi kurta in ivory or deep teal, where the warm brass reads almost antique-gold against the fabric. It is equally at ease over a structured linen blazer for a gallery opening or a work occasion that calls for something considered rather than conventional. The piece is offered in a single free size, the chain length suited to most necklines. The polished brass finish requires only a soft cloth to maintain its warmth; store it away from moisture and it will hold its colour through seasons of wear.
