Description
There are courts that never quite dissolved; they live instead in the grammar of Kundan. This Rajwadi-style necklace and earring set carries that inheritance faithfully. Worked in brass and set with flat-polished Kundan stones in the classic inlay manner associated with Jaipur's gold bazaars, the necklace arranges its motifs in the layered, ceremonial register of royal adornment: each stone held within a raised foil-backed cell, the surrounding metal finished to a warm, burnished tone. The earrings, measuring 2.2 inches (approximately 5.6 cm) in height and 1.1 inches (approximately 2.8 cm) in width, terminate in the small jhumki drops that are a signature of Rajasthani jewellery, that satisfying bell-shaped pendant which catches light and movement in equal measure. The full set weighs 200 grams and the necklace sits at 16 inches (approximately 40.6 cm), adjustable further via a fabric dori closure, so the drape can be positioned precisely across the collarbone or lower. For a festive mehendi afternoon, wear this set against raw silk in saffron or terracotta, where the Kundan will answer the warmth of the fabric. For a contemporary evening look, it reads with equal authority over a deep-toned velvet blouse. The adjustable dori removes the anxiety of fit entirely, accommodating most necklines without alteration. Brass construction keeps the weight manageable through long hours, and the Kundan setting requires no daily maintenance beyond careful storage away from moisture.
