Description

There is a quiet luminescence to moonstone that no other gem quite replicates. Each bead in this strand is shaped into a small, unhurried coin, roughly seven millimetres across, cut from rainbow moonstone and threaded with care onto a fourteen-and-a-half-inch string (approximately 36.6 cm). Forty-six such coins travel the length of the necklace, their pale, milky bodies carrying that characteristic adularescence: a blue-white inner glow that shifts as light moves across the surface. Rainbow moonstone, long favoured in Rajasthani bead-work traditions, is prized precisely for this optical quality. The coin silhouette, flat and circular, allows each bead maximum surface area to catch and diffuse light. At ten grams total, the strand sits lightly at the collarbone, the collective softness of the stones lending it an almost watery weight. Wear this with an ivory chanderi kurta and the necklace reads as quietly ceremonial, the moonstones echoing the sheen of the weave. Equally, it layers beautifully over a plain-collared linen dress for a summer wedding, where its cool, opalescent quality will hold its own against brighter accessories. Free size suits most necklines without adjustment. The threaded construction is pliable enough for daily wear, though the stones reward a gentle hand. The natural variation in adularescence means no two coins are identical, giving the strand an organic coherence rather than mechanical uniformity.
