Description
There are evenings that ask you to arrive dressed in history. This semi-bridal choker set belongs to the Rajasthani Polki tradition, where uncut diamonds were once the preserve of royalty and the karigar's art lay in coaxing each faceted shard of raw stone into a foiled brass setting that threw light rather than absorbed it. Here, that same sensibility is expressed through a flat, wide choker silhouette measuring approximately six centimetres high and nearly thirteen centimetres across, its surface populated with Polki-set stones arranged in the layered floral and geometric registers typical of Jaipur's bridal ateliers. The matching earrings, each roughly six and a half centimetres long and three centimetres wide, and the maang tikka, nearly nine centimetres from chain to pendant and three centimetres across its face, repeat the same foiled motifs so that the set reads as a single, considered composition. The brass base is finished to a warm, muted gold tone. The choker closes on an adjustable dori, keeping the silhouette true against the collarbone. Wear the set with an ivory or deep red silk lehenga for a mehendi or sangeet; equally, it sits beautifully against a zardozi-worked anarkali for a winter reception. At one hundred and seventy-three grams, the set has presence without strain. The adjustable dori allows a precise fit across neck sizes, and the free-size maang tikka chain is simple to pin at varying partings.
