Description

There are earrings made to be noticed, and earrings made to be remembered. This jhumka belongs to the second kind. The silhouette follows the classic bell form beloved across North India, its domed crown set with uncut Polki stones that catch light the way old palace windows catch the afternoon sun, each facet raw and unhurried. The base metal is brass, worked and finished to carry the weight of the setting with quiet confidence. A pearl drop hangs from the bell's lowest point, a detail that speaks directly to the Mughal-era tradition of layering mineral and organic materials, stone against nacre, structure against softness. The Polki setting itself, with its characteristic open-backed foil work, belongs to a sensibility long perfected in the ateliers of Jaipur, where the karigar reads each uncut diamond chip for its own particular luminosity before placing it. For occasion wear, pair these with a silk tissue kurta and pearl-set maang tikka at a mehendi or sangeet. They are equally at home above a heavily embroidered Banarasi blouse at a wedding reception, where the 45-gram weight settles into the ear with a presence that feels earned. Each earring measures 2.25 inches high by 1 inch wide (approximately 5.7 cm by 2.5 cm), a proportion generous enough to frame the face without overwhelming it. The brass foundation ensures durability through long celebrations, and the free size fitting suits all ear types with a standard hook or post closure.
