Description

There are earrings that dress you, and there are earrings that carry a whole tradition to the ear. These Polki and Kundan earrings are rooted in the jewellery workshops of Rajasthan, where uncut stones are set flat against a foiled base to catch light the way cut diamonds never quite do. The technique here is Kundan, in which molten gold-hued lac is packed between raised metal walls to hold each Polki firmly in its bezel without a prong in sight. The base metal is brass, worked and finished to carry the warm, slightly matte glow that distinguishes costume Kundan from its pure-gold cousins while preserving the same visual grammar. A graduated bead drop falls beneath the central cluster, adding movement and a gentle vertical rhythm that elongates the neck. The earring measures approximately 5.3 cm in height by 2.5 cm in width and weighs 22 grams, giving it a confident presence without an uncomfortable pull. Wear them with a tissue-silk sari for a Diwali evening, where the Polki catches candlelight and flatters every skin tone. For a daytime mehendi, pair them with a printed cotton kurta in ivory or deep green and let the earrings do all the speaking. Sized to suit all ears and fastened with a standard post-and-back closure, these earrings sit close enough to the lobe to feel secure through long celebrations. The brass base resists everyday wear well; store away from moisture to keep the finish pristine.
