Description

There is a particular pleasure in a hoop that refuses to be quiet. These Polki-studded hoop jhumkas sit within the broad, unbroken lineage of Rajasthani bazaar jewellery, where brass was never a compromise but a deliberate choice: warm-toned, forgiving of the hand, and sympathetic to uncut Polki stones whose flat, mirror-cut faces catch the light without straining for it. The hoop silhouette is generous, spanning two inches (approximately 5 cm) across, and the hanging jhumka bell is dressed with Polki settings arranged in close formation, each stone held in a raised collet that presses the uncut surface gently outward. Below the bell, a fringe of small bead drops adds quiet percussion, the kind that moves when you move. The overall drop measures just over three inches (approximately 7.9 cm), enough to graze the collarbone when the head is turned. At 35 grams across the pair, the weight is present but wearable. Pair them with an ivory chanderi kurta and a raw silk dupatta for a festive afternoon that needs no other ornament. They are equally at ease against the deep block-printed cotton of a casual evening, where the brass and Polki do the speaking. The hoop closure is a standard ear-wire fitting, secure enough for full-day wear. Brass is best kept from prolonged contact with water and perfume; stored in a soft pouch, these jhumkas will hold their warm, unlacquered finish gracefully through many seasons.
