Description

There is a particular quality of light that lives inside uncut stone, and these earrings are built entirely around it. Fashioned in brass and finished to evoke the warmth of antique gold, each chandelier frame is set with polki stones whose raw, unfaceted faces scatter candlelight in the manner of heirloom jewellery from the ateliers of Jaipur and Bikaner. Polki, the oldest form of diamond setting in the Indian tradition, relies on the natural geometry of the uncut stone rather than the cutter's intervention, and here that philosophy translates into a layered chandelier silhouette that cascades from a broad upper tier through diminishing arches, each tier holding its stones in close-set collet work. Pearl drops hang from the lowest register, their cool lustre softening the brass's warmth in exactly the way old-court jewellery intended. The overall form recalls the temple jewellery aesthetic, grounded and ceremonial without heaviness. At 3.50 inches (8.9 cm) tall and 1.80 inches (4.6 cm) wide, weighing 65 grams, these earrings carry genuine presence. Wear them against a silk tissue Banarasi saree at a winter wedding, or let them anchor an otherwise plain ivory kurta at a mehendi afternoon, where their scale becomes the entire statement. The free-size hook closure suits most ear piercings and requires no adjustment. The brass base keeps the piece accessible while the polki and pearl combination ensures it reads as something considered and genuinely rooted.
