Description
Bridal adornment, at its most considered, is never merely ornament. This necklace set draws from the vocabulary of Rajasthani Polki work, a tradition in which uncut stones are set face-down into a base, their natural cleavage planes catching and scattering light without the intervention of a lapidary's wheel. Here, the brass foundation carries that same sensibility, its surface bearing a warm, burnished tone that recalls the gilded interiors of old havelis. The Polki stones are set across a wide, structured bib that measures thirty centimetres in length and nearly thirteen centimetres at its widest point, commanding the neckline with controlled grandeur. The matching jhumki-style earrings, approximately seven and a half centimetres tall and four centimetres wide, continue the motif downward, while the maang tikka, nearly twelve centimetres in its drop, anchors the forehead with quiet authority. The full set weighs two hundred and fifty-five grams, substantial enough to feel ceremonial. Worn over a deep silk Benarasi or a heavily embroidered lehenga in ivory or ruby red, this set needs no other competition at the neckline. It is equally at ease over a structured Kanjeevaram blouse at a mehendi or sangeet, where its warm brass tones harmonise with the gold zari weave. The necklace fastens with an adjustable dori, making it accommodating across different necklines and blouse depths. The brass construction requires only a soft cloth to restore its lustre, making it a reliable companion through a full wedding season.
