Description
There is a quietness to Polki work that no other tradition quite replicates. Flat, uncut diamonds were once the preserve of Mughal ateliers, but the craft found its truest second home in Jaipur, where karigar families perfected the art of setting raw, foil-backed stones in close formation so that light moves across them like water across shallow sand. This set carries that legacy into brass, a metal long favoured for its warmth and its willingness to hold intricate settings without the weight of heavier alloys. The uncut Polki stones are foil-set across a floral necklace rendered in the classic layered silhouette, suspended on an adjustable dori that allows the piece to sit precisely at the collarbone or rest lower against the sternum. Freshwater pearl drops finish the earrings with a softness that balances the geometry of the stonework. The full set weighs forty-one grams, sitting lightly despite its visual presence. Wear the necklace at its full eight inches (approximately twenty centimetres), adjusted close, with a tissue silk saree for a festive evening. It translates just as naturally over a raw-silk anarkali at a winter mehndi, where the pearl drops catch candlelight with particular generosity. The earrings measure one point two inches (roughly three centimetres) in height and half an inch (approximately one point three centimetres) in width, a proportion that suits both elaborate bridal hair and a simple bun. The adjustable dori closure removes any anxiety around neck size, making this a genuinely uncomplicated piece to wear.
