Description

A crown for the part in your hair, set in the grammar of old Rajasthan. Polki work traces its origins to the courts of Mughal India, where uncut diamonds were set flat in fine gold foil to catch candlelight without cutting away the stone's natural soul. This piece honours that lineage in brass, a metal long trusted by karigars for its warm tone and workability, shaped into a mathapatti that sits along the central parting and fans gently across the forehead. The polki stones are set in the characteristic open-backed manner, allowing what light there is to pass through and animate each facet. A border of pearls follows the lower edge, their cool, matte lustre tempering the flash of the polki above. The piece measures approximately 10.5 inches (26.7 cm) in length and just 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) in width, a slender, disciplined silhouette that reads as refined rather than ornate, weighing 32 grams. Wear it at a wedding reception with a silk tissue lehenga in ivory or blush, where it will anchor a minimal jewellery edit. It works equally well over a heavy Benarasi dupatta at an engagement ceremony, adding vertical drama without competing with a grand neckpiece. One size fits all wearers, as the mathapatti is designed to rest freely across the parting. The brass base carries a warm, burnished finish that resists the harshness of a high-polish surface, making this a practical and quietly enduring piece for festive occasions.
