Description

Worn on the hand like a whispered heirloom, the haathphool is one of jewellery's most poetic forms. This pair, rendered in brass and set with uncut Polki stones, follows the tradition of haathphools that have adorned brides and festive guests across Rajasthan for centuries. The construction bridges a bracelet-style wrist band to a central floral medallion, from which delicate chains trail outward to individual finger rings, draping the hand in a web of ornament. The Polki stones, foil-backed in the manner of Jaipur's kite-workshop ateliers, catch candlelight with that particular flat, antique luminosity that faceted stones cannot replicate. At 35 grams the weight is present but manageable, and the brass base, finished to a warm gold tone, gives the piece its richness without demanding the price of precious metal. Each haathphool measures approximately 13.2 cm in length and 5 cm in width, proportioned to cover the full back of the hand. Wear them over ivory or blush silk at a mehendi or sangeet, where the open-hand gesture of applying colour becomes its own small performance. They are equally at home over the sleeve of a heavily embroidered Anarkali at a wedding reception, the Polki catching the hall lights as you lift a glass. One size fits most adult hands; the finger rings carry gentle flex for comfort. The brass construction keeps the piece light enough for an evening's wear without fatigue, and the foil-set stones require only a soft cloth to restore their glow.
