Description

There is a grammar of adornment older than fashion, and the haathphool speaks it fluently. Polki, at its most democratic, travels beyond gold and precious stone into brass, where the same vocabulary of uncut, foil-backed crystal settings finds a new register: more accessible, no less considered. This piece follows the haathphool's classical architecture, a ring-to-bracelet hand ornament that bridges the wrist and finger in a single continuous piece, spanning approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm) in length and 2.2 inches (5.6 cm) in width. Polki-style stones sit within closed settings, their silvered foil backing catching and diffusing light in that characteristic soft, pooled glow. The brass base, finished to a warm antique gold tone, lends the piece its weight: a substantial 34 grams that settles across the back of the hand with quiet authority. The form echoes Rajasthani bridal tradition, where haathphool were layered over silk and sheer organza at mehendi and wedding ceremonies. Wear this pair over the hands at a sangeet or mehendi, against a rawsilk lehenga in ivory or deep red. It reads equally well over a printed chanderi kurta at a festive daytime gathering, where its scale becomes sculptural rather than ceremonial. Free size with an adjustable fit, this pair accommodates most adult hands comfortably. The brass construction keeps the piece lightweight enough for extended wear, while the closed Polki settings require no special maintenance beyond occasional gentle wiping.
